This is my Silver Cuckoo Marans. The Marans breed comes from France. They lay dark brown eggs, almost a dark chocolate to coppery color. I can't wait to see how dark her shells are.
The Silver Cuckoo color is the barred feathers with irregular light and dark bars. I think she is going to be one of my large girls. Already she is bigger than the Polish and Leghorn.
I really did not know what to name her and since I have a love of comic books and superheros I decided I needed to name one after one of my favorite, Wonder Women.
So meet, Princess Diana, Amazonian Hen! Well almost a Pullet not quite a hen yet.
When she was a chick her coloring reminded me so much of a penguin! She likes to talk to me when I visit. She doesn't come right up to me but slowly she will investigate, waiting for my hand to come out full of treats!
