Irish Blessing

I am experiencing the wonderful feeling of accomplishment!  It's so nice to finish a project.  I found this book, Quilting in the coop by The Little Red Hen, at the AQS quilt show this past summer.  My partner is proud of his Irish heritage, so I wanted to make this to have in our house.

The letters were stitched on using Transfer-Eze.  Its a water soluble sheet that you put through your printer, peel off the backing and stick to your fabric.  Then after you stitching is done you just soak in water.  After that was done the book directions has you soak your fabric in an instant coffee bath to give it an antique look.  I was unsure if you were supposed to rinse it again after that so I didn't and for awhile it had a very strong coffee scent but that dissipated with time.

Then I used Heat n Bond to fuse the wool pieces on and stitched around them.  Last weekend I made a frame and painted it.  Today I attached it to the back and voila, project completed!

The book has some great projects in it.  The booth at the AQS show had some kits for some of the projects in the book.  I purchased a couple of those to add to my collection of kits I bought from the previous years show!  Maybe I'll work on some of those soon.
