Little Chicken Pincushions

Every year I make something to give to the ladies that help me with the library for the West Michigan Quilt guild.  So this year I found this pattern for these great little chicken pincushions!  Its from the book Home to Roost by Terri Degenkolb.

I had so much fun making them that I ended up with a flock 16!  More than enough for my helpers and a few to give out to friends.

I am always a nervous wreck, getting up and speaking in front of so many people. Our guild meetings fill the church we use, about 200 or so attend each meeting.  I make myself get up there and speak at least once a year and I think it is very important to take a moment and say thanks for the help I get with the library.

An afternoon with friends

Sunday we spent the afternoon with some friends.  We met at the Winchester restaurant on Wealthy (in Grand Rapids, MI).  It was great to catch up.

After lunch we went to the antique shops on CenturyThis is one of our favorite antiquing stops.

Hopefully, we won't let so much time go before we get together with them all again.  We always say that and before you know it months have gone by!

We did have an absolutely wonderful day.  I really didn't find any treasures on this shopping trip, maybe next time.

Happy Birthday Connie!

Here is another card my Aunt commissioned for one of her friends.

Here are the threads used.

This is the embroidery after the first set of colors.

 This is the second set.
This is the third set.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the finished card! I was told it looks stunning!!
I hope Connie has a great birthday.

In my Garden quilt finished

I wanted to share with you the wonderful job Terri did quilting my quilt.

It still amazes me to look at it! During the several days it took me to sew the binding on, I had it draped over my cutting table in my studio.  I would constantly walk over to it just to gaze at another section in awe of the quilting!  I get giddy just typing about it.

Here are some close up shots.  The photos may take awhile to load. I was taking photos to use to enter this in the AQS show and you have to use your highest setting, but trust me they are worth the wait.

My application for entry for the AQS Grand Rapids show was completed online.  Now I just have to wait for June 21st when the rejection and acceptance notices go out!
