I love Staples!

Okay, my new favorite store is Staples.  Martha Stewart has a new Home Office line made by Avery. I had to limit myself and just got a couple things, but I'll be going back next week!!  You can check out Martha's blog to see more.
I am also making some progress with the projects  I told you about before.  The GMFG quilt has all the blocks attached and the borders are next.  I almost have the back of my sweater done.  I'll post pictures of both when I have something pretty to show!

New Projects

I love starting new projects! The excitement of picking out new supplies in new colors and new textures! Its about half way or three quarters of the way through the project that my excitement peters out and I'm ready to start something new.  Maybe this is why I have so many unfinished projects. Well I have two new projects starting up, the first is a Grandmothers Flower Garden (GMFG) quilt.
This is such a beautiful quilt.  Its a commissioned piece that I have to finish and put on the borders.  I have about 4 or 5 more blocks to add then two of the sides have to be appliqued onto the border fabric.  I'm taking my time, not rushing so I don't get burned out.

My other new project- I joined a sweater knit-a-long at A Grand Skein. Its every Wednesday from 1-3 and there is a wonderful instructor, Amy, there to help me along.  I'm such a newbie to knitting I don't think she had time to help anyone else with me monopolizing all her time!!
I am going to try making this ribbed cardigan.  My main color will be the sage and then its trimmed in the toasted pecan and the thin dark accent in the dark gray. I'm still excited about it even after starting and unraveling 3 times! After my 4th attempt I am happy to say that I have 4 wonderful rows going!!

Gabriella Nicole

I had a wonderful afternoon yesterday with my newborn niece, Gabriella Nicole DeLucas.

She arrived at 4:47 am on the 4th of January.  She weighted 8 lbs 3 ozs and was 21 inches long.

My brother and sister-in-law are taking care of Sophia while her mommy is in the hospital with Gabriella. So on my way to the hospital in Battle Creek, I first stopped at my brother's house to see her.  Its hard to believe that almost 14 months ago she was a tiny little thing like Gabriella is!!  Now she is starting to walk.

I got the hospital about noon, Jeni was just getting ready to feed Gabriella.  Then she was all mine!  Jeni did have a friend stop by so I had to share for a little while.  Then Gabriella and I sat in a rocking chair and read my nook while Jeni took a nap!  It was heavenly, I'm tearing up right now just thinking about it!!

She was kind enough to make a mess in her diaper for Uncle Bobbi to clean up!! Who knew something so tiny could make such a big mess!  Of course the nurse came in right as I was getting done. But then Gabriella proceeded to fill that diaper so the nurse had to change her again. While the nurse changed her she commented that Gabriella was really watching the TV. Yep, she's a Buller!!
