Alligator Scarf Completed

Well I got my alligator scarf completed!!My first knitting project! Woohoo!
Our beautiful model today, Samuel Finnegan Hanna, is wearing our alligator scarf, knitted in Cascade Yarns 100% superwashed wool!

Isn't Gloria's new baby precious. He is almost a month old here.

I have already started another alligator scarf... in green this time... so it looks more authentic! I am going to make the new one a little longer... the golden yellow one just doesn't want to stay around your neck the whole time...and you don't want to walk down the street looking like your wrestling with an alligator...it draws too much attention to yourself!!
Like wearing an alligator around your neck doesn't!
See what I mean!

Dorthy bags in sepia

Here are a couple more bags from my "Friends of Dorthy" series!  These are from a panel of the black and white part of the Oz movie.  One will be added to the items I'm selling at A Grand Skein the other one was sold before I even made it!!
Both sides of each bag
Busy week ahead, lots of sewing, baking, card making and decorating on my list...how much gets done? I'm not going to worry!

Fiber Fling Bazaar

I have been sewing up a storm this week.  I've been getting some things made to sell  at A Grand Skein.  They are having a Fiber Fling Bazaar to promote and sell local fiber artist work.
This takes place November 29th to December 3rd, so if your in the area you should check it out.  I'm very excited to see all the things they will have.

Its a great way to support local businesses and get some things checked off your Christmas list too!  I have a few of my tote bags, needle cases, and scissor cases to sell.

Sophia's Turned One

My niece, Sophia, had her first birthday party on Saturday.
It was at the YMCA in Battle Creek.  We had a pizza party the first hour, then they went swimming for the second hour. She got tons of presents but was more interested in the wrapping paper and bows!  Poor Uncle Bobbi was terribly sick with a head cold so he didn't get to get any lovin's from the birthday girl.

This is the card I made for her. I used my new 5D CardShop program to design it. I was very pleased with the results.

So far so good....

I was asked to show the progress that I have made with my knitting.  Well it has been one one week so far and I am up to the main body part, which you keep stitching over and over (12 times) until you get the length.  Now, the nose is not as puffy as I think it should be but this is the very first knitting stitches I had ever done.  He is not perfect but I am very happy with the outcome so far!
You see... this all came about because my friend Terri went to New York and told me that everyone, men and women, were wearing scarves. Its the new thing! So while I'm thinking about this, I see a very cute alligator scarf on Etsy but it was very expensive.  Then my friend Wilma found this knitting pattern and now I'm knitting and I'm able to keep up with the fashions of today in a very unique way! If you are a knitter and your interested in this pattern its from Morehouse Farm
Meanwhile, I'm working on more Wizard of Oz bags.  I think there will be 7 total, in what I'm going to call my "Friend of Dorthy" series!!  I'll keep you posted!  Now I'm off to a Grand Skein to show Wilma and her knitting group my progress!

Christmas Stockings

I just spent a wonderful afternoon with my sister and baby niece, Sophia.  They came over to make Christmas stockings for their family.  Well, Uncle Bobbi made stockings while Sophia and Mom supervised!  But that's okay because Sophia paid me for all my hard work with lots of kisses!
Sophia helped watch the names get embroidered on!
I think they turned out pretty nice.
Can't wait to see her again next weekend in Battle Creek for her 1 year old birthday party!

Gift Card and Scissor holders

I had some more commissioned work to do.  Luckily I had a bunch of scissor holders already done ... which someone should be listing them on Etsy too!  Then I just had to make some gift card holders.
These little scissor holders are great.  They will fit a pair of scissors measuring up to 3 1/2".
I had fun putting these little gift card holders together.  It was difficult deciding which fabrics out of my stash to use.

Earlier this week I spent a wonderful afternoon with my friend Wilma at The Grand Skein.  We were so busy chatting it up that before we knew it 2 hours had gone by! ...and of course I got sucked into the knitting world! ...which is easy to do with me when it comes to any kind of craft activity!  I'll keep you informed on my knitting adventures!  The Grand Skein is a wonderful new yarn store that opened up in Alger Heights, right around the corner from me. They have a great assortment of yarn and its fun to see the  weaving looms and spinning wheels they have too.
